Privacy Policy

FetchPing is operated by Devon as a sole trader. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and who we share it with. If you have questions, email us at contact@fetchping.com.

What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information — your name and email address when you register.
• Monitor configuration — URLs, IP addresses, domains, and other targets you add to FetchPing.
• Check results — response times, status codes, and error messages from our uptime checks. These are retained for 30 days on the free plan and 120 days on Pro.
• Billing information — if you upgrade to Pro, your payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or payment details on our servers. We receive a customer ID and subscription status from Stripe.
• Usage data — aggregate analytics via Google Analytics to understand how the product is used. This data is anonymised and does not identify individual users.
• Log data — server logs including IP addresses and request metadata, retained for a short period for debugging and security purposes.

How we use your data

• To provide, maintain, and improve the FetchPing service.
• To send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, alert notifications, and status page subscription confirmations. These are sent via the Lettr email API.
• To send occasional product updates and announcements from FetchPing. You can unsubscribe from these at any time by emailing us.
• To process payments via Stripe.
• To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security incidents.

Email and marketing

We will only send you marketing emails (new features, plan changes, and product updates) if you opt in. The opt-in checkbox is unchecked by default when you register, and you can turn it on or off at any time from your account settings. We will never send you email on behalf of third parties, and we will never sell or rent your email address to anyone.

This is separate from transactional email, which we send regardless of your marketing preference because it is necessary to operate the service: account verification, password resets, alert notifications, status page subscription confirmations, and similar account-related messages.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate FetchPing:

• Google Analytics — anonymised website analytics to understand how visitors use FetchPing. Google may set cookies on your device. See Google's privacy policy.
• Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Your payment details are handled directly by Stripe and subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
• Lettr — transactional email delivery. Lettr receives recipient email addresses and message content in order to deliver emails on our behalf.

We do not sell your data to any third party, advertiser, or data broker. Ever.

Cookies

FetchPing uses cookies for session management (to keep you logged in) and Google Analytics (anonymised usage tracking). We use a cookie consent banner to request permission before loading Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.

Data security

All data transmitted between your browser and FetchPing is encrypted using HTTPS and TLS. Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes and are never stored in plaintext. We take reasonable precautions to secure the data we hold, including access controls, server hardening, and regular dependency updates.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that affects you, we will notify you by email as soon as reasonably practicable.

Data retention

Monitor check history is retained for 30 days on the free plan and 120 days on Pro, after which it is automatically deleted. Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial reasons (for example, billing records).

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate data by emailing contact@fetchping.com. We will respond within 30 days.

For data export and account deletion, you do not need to email us. Both are available directly from your account:

• Export your data — go to Settings → Privacy and Data → Export my data, confirm your password, and download a JSON file containing your account details, monitors, status pages, alert channels, and incidents.
• Delete your account — go to Settings → Privacy and Data → Delete my account. This requires your password and a typed confirmation, and permanently removes your account and all associated data immediately. This action cannot be undone.

GDPR

FetchPing is operated by an individual based outside the European Union, and our servers are also located outside the EU. We are not currently fully compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), but we are actively working toward it. Steps we have taken so far:

• Marketing email requires explicit opt-in, unchecked by default, rather than opt-out.
• Self-serve data export is available from your account settings at any time.
• Self-serve account deletion is available from your account settings, with no need to contact us.
• Defined retention windows for monitor check history (30 or 120 days depending on plan).

We have not yet completed a full GDPR compliance review, including formal data processing agreements with all subprocessors, a documented lawful basis for every category of processing, and a breach notification process. If full GDPR compliance is a requirement for your use of the service, please contact us at contact@fetchping.com before relying on FetchPing, so we can discuss the current state honestly.

Children

FetchPing is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will notify registered users by email.
